About the role
The Environmental Services Technician at St Elizabeth Hospital is responsible for keeping patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, using specialized equipment and techniques for sanitization, and adhering to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and actively participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, and identify proper waste stream handling.
- Follow infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, and PPE usage.
- Operate and maintain EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
- Collaborate with the patient care team and mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees.
Requirements
None required upon hire. Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
