Environmental Services Specialist

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Specialist cleans assigned areas following established standards, maintains supplies, and facilitates rapid turnover between patients or cases. They must demonstrate a strong understanding of aseptic technique, standard precautions, and safe chemical usage.

Duties

• Takes initiative to perform tasks without supervision
• Applies appropriate techniques to meet cleaning standards
• Wipes down designated areas containing blood or bodily fluids and disinfects
• Coordinates with hospital staff to clean patient rooms
• Operates various cleaning equipment
• Responds to cleaning needs promptly
• Maintains and monitors cleaning supplies inventory
• Disposes of trash and biohazard waste correctly
• Establishes a regular cleaning schedule for all areas
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Demonstrated eligibility to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in hygiene and environmental control preferred
• Experience cleaning and disinfecting sensitive biological materials preferred
• Strong verbal and written English skills for safe use of chemical cleaning agents
• Enthusiasm and drive to excel in the role
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist others
• Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Prompt and reliable
• Ability to handle biological materials safely
