Key Responsibilities
- Floor Care and Maintenance
- Perform floor stripping, extraction, scrubbing, buffing, and burnishing procedures.
- Sweep and mop tile floors using proper cleaning techniques.
- Operate auto-scrubbers and other floor care equipment.
- Perform carpet care including vacuuming, bonnet cleaning, and carpet extraction.
- Apply cleaning solutions and floor finishes according to training guidelines.
- Ensure floors are properly dried using fans when necessary.
- Daily Cleaning Tasks
- Vacuum carpeted areas.
- Dust mop and damp mop hard floor surfaces.
- Spot clean stains and remove debris.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas.
- Restroom Cleaning
- Clean sinks, toilets, mirrors, and tubs/showers inside and outside.
- Refill restroom supplies including toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap dispensers.
- Damp mop restroom floors.
- Clean walls, water pipes, and fixtures.
- Weekly Detail Cleaning
- Clean baseboards and corners.
- Dust door frames and vents.
- Clean edges above and below six feet.
- Clean desks, countertops, and telephones.
- Detail high-touch surfaces and fixtures.
- Safety and Compliance
- Place caution signs before beginning floor care tasks.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely including bleach, wax, disinfectants, and other approved products.
- Follow hospital cleaning procedures and HHS training standards.
- Respond to housekeeping pages and requests as needed.
- Record completed work on the Area Assignment Checklist.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Environmental Services Director.
- Aid in maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Support the overall Environmental Services team in maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- Frequent lifting of 0–40 pounds.
- Lifting or moving equipment and furniture weighing 25–100 pounds.
- Pushing or pulling carts and equipment exceeding 100 pounds.
- Standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and reaching continuously during shifts.
- Operating cleaning equipment and machinery safely.
- Working on tile and carpeted floors for extended periods.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as required.
- Work is performed in a healthcare facility environment including patient areas, restrooms, offices, and ancillary spaces.
