About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, purpose-driven, and team-oriented individuals committed to excellence to join our Environmental Services team. This role supports a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients and staff at Ft Wayne Hospital.
Schedule
Full-time position: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (will eventually include rotating weekends and holidays).
Responsibilities
- Provide cleaning and sanitizing services for patient rooms, offices, clinics, clinical and procedural areas, and public spaces.
- Support patient safety through consistent, high-quality cleaning and disinfection of high-acuity clinical and procedural areas.
- Apply disinfection protocols and use approved cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy.
- Conduct hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow.
- Operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
- Perform technical cleaning in specialized areas such as IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.
- Climb ladders and perform physical tasks including reaching, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, and carrying/lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more (up to 80% of the time).
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred (not required).
- No previous experience required.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing such as gowns, gloves, goggles, and rubber-soled closed-toe footwear as required by regulations.
