About the Role

Clean patient care areas (e.g., operating rooms, endoscopy suites), patient rooms, offices, bathrooms, and other assigned areas using appropriate cleaning supplies. Operate floor care equipment (e.g., buffers, floor scrubber, water vacuums, hand tools). Prepare soiled linen for pick-up by commercial laundry service. Perform waste management activities (i.e., refuse, garbage, rubbish, contaminated trash, glass, and pathological waste).

Recognize patients and families as important members of the healthcare team by communicating effectively with patients, family, and other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize assigned areas using appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Operate floor care equipment such as buffers, floor scrubbers, and water vacuums.
  • Prepare soiled linen for commercial laundry pick-up.
  • Manage waste disposal, including refuse, contaminated trash, glass, and pathological waste.
  • Perform heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of trash, linen bags, furniture, and equipment (e.g., beds, carts).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Attend training sessions on other shifts as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience necessary.

Skills

  • Physical Demands: Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50-150 pounds occasionally; frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, push/pull equipment, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Occasional sitting required.
  • Vision: Ability to perceive objects and details visually.
  • Speaking/Hearing: Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Taste/Smell: Ability to recognize and distinguish odors and flavors.
  • Motor Coordination: Ability to perform tasks requiring coordination, balance, and dexterity.

Pay

Starting salary range: $18.82 - $23.53 per hour. Actual individual salaries vary based on role, experience, education, and licensure.

Schedule

Day shift. Schedule flexibility required for training on other shifts.
