About the role
An Environmental Services Associate, under the general direction of an Environmental Services Supervisor, performs general cleaning activities and helps distribute laundry throughout Allen Hospital and surrounding clinics. Environmental Service Associates ensure that the hospital and clinic facilities are clean and safe for patients, team members, and visitors on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional cleaning services throughout the hospital and clinic area, with emphasis on disinfecting surfaces in: patient rooms, restrooms, corridors/stairwells, cafeteria/kitchen, lounge areas/waiting areas, classrooms, offices, exam rooms, etc. in accordance with standard operating procedures of the department.
- Maintain outside entry glass as the weather permits to uphold the image of the facility.
- Promptly provide cleaning services to any area of the hospital if requested by the Environmental Services Manager/Supervisor/Lead or other hospital personnel.
- Perform laundry tasks as needed/requested such as: fill laundry carts with clean linen; distribute linen throughout the hospital; empty dirty linen from linen chutes; aid in providing accurate par levels in each department.
- Assist in cleaning at offsite clinic locations when requested to do so by the Environmental Services Manager/Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned: cleaning carpets, burnishing floors, stripping/finishing hard surface floors, etc.
- Demonstrate the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adhere to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrate ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Complete all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- General housekeeping knowledge.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and display a positive attitude towards coworkers, staff, visitors, and patients.
