About the role

This position will mainly focus on laundry duties. North Star Manor is seeking a reliable and dedicated Environmental Services Assistant to join our team. This role is vital to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a heart for service in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping Duties

  • Clean and dust resident rooms, restrooms, common areas, storage areas, and offices as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and floors throughout the facility.
  • Sanitize restrooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, polishing machines, ladders, utility carts, mops, buckets, and appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory and ordering housekeeping supplies as needed.

Laundry Duties

  • Sort linens, towels, clothing, and other items by color, size, and material.
  • Operate commercial laundry equipment while adhering to sanitization protocols.
  • Fold, hang, and deliver clean items to appropriate locations within the facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room and ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Stock laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, and fabric softener.
  • Prepare and attach laundry tags with resident-identifiable information to ensure proper handling.

Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred, especially in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Capable of lifting, bending, standing, and moving for extended periods.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a respectful attitude toward residents and staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • The individual must be able to successfully pass background checks.

Pay

$20 - $25 per hour; wages are based on experience.
