About the role

The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for performing duties to provide a clean, sanitary, and pleasant environment to a high standard, enhancing quality patient care. This position does not require direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas as directed by supervisor/manager, including cleaning floors, offices, clinical and non-clinical spaces, halls, common areas, restrooms, doorways, and entrances.
• Perform floor care tasks: sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing, polishing, and stripping floors using brooms, mops, and power equipment (e.g., swing machines, floor machines).
• Clean carpets: vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Strip and remake beds; bundle soiled linen; clean guest/patient rooms and bathrooms; dust and sanitize flat surfaces; empty trash.
• Maintain cleanliness in rooms, hallways, stairways, and public areas through vacuuming, sweeping, dry/wet mopping.
• Wash walls; move linens to and from drop-off locations.
• Assist with moving furnishings/contents to complete assigned tasks.
• Keep equipment and workspace (e.g., storage areas, EVS closets) neat, clean, and safe.
• Perform minor maintenance as required.
• Lock/unlock doors and conduct security rounds.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and standards.
• Knowledge of waste streams: Biological, Hazardous, General, Sharps, and Recycling, including their collection points.
• Understand and respond to the departmental Fire Management Plan; assist the Fire Department during fire alarms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience cannot substitute for this qualification.
• 0–1 year of experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Attention to detail and high-quality customer service skills.

Pay

$19.24 - $39.81/hour (Grade SM1204). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
