About the role
The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and pleasant environment to enhance quality patient care. This role does not require direct patient care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned areas set forth by supervisor and/or manager.
- Cleaning of all floors, offices, clinical and non-clinical spaces, halls, common areas (including stairs), restroom facilities, doorways, and entrances immediately outside of assigned area.
- Sweep, scrub, refinish, polish and strip floors using brooms and mops and power.
- Cleaning of carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
- Stripping and remaking beds; bundling soiled linen; cleaning guest/patient rooms, bathrooms, dusting, sanitizing flat surfaces; emptying trash; vacuuming, sweeping, dry mopping, and wet mopping rooms, hallways, stairways, and other public areas; washing walls; moving linens to and from drop-off locations.
- Aiding with moving furnishings/contents as required to complete assigned tasks.
- Keeping equipment and workspace neat, clean, and safe.
- Performing minor maintenance as required.
- Locking/unlocking doors and doing security rounds.
- Performing other duties as required and/or assigned.
- Following infection prevention protocols and standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- No experience in lieu of a degree accepted.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions required.
- Experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred (0-1 year preferred).
- Demonstrated attention to detail and high-quality customer service skills required.
- Knowledge of various waste streams; Biological, Hazardous, General, Sharps and Recycling waste streams and their respective collection points.
- Knowledge of departmental Fire Management Plan.
- Responds to fire alarms and assists Fire Department as required.
