Environmental Service Tech I

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and Disinfection
• Perform specialized cleaning tasks like “terminal cleaning” of surgical suites.
• Clean and polish all mirrors, glass partitions, doors, and windows.
• Dust and wash walls, ceilings, light fixtures, and vents.
• Clean and maintain floors using various methods such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing.
• Clean and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and reporting any malfunctions.
• Manage supply inventory in designated areas.
• Respond to spills safely and effectively, following proper procedures.
• Adhere to safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
• Document necessary logs and records related to cleaning activities.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• Health Care Environment Services preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Visual acuity necessary for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
• Tactile perception important for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care.
• Motor coordination required for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures.
• The ability to lift to 50 pounds independently and involve frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment.
• Frequent walking and standing throughout the shift.
• The ability to sit for long periods of time.
