Environmental Senior Project Manager
About the role
As a Senior Project Manager/Principal at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Oklahoma City, OK office, you will develop a practice focused on providing environmental engineering, site investigation/remediation, due diligence, and/or environmental compliance services to private and public sector clients across markets including real estate, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, and power.
You will manage and expand services for current clients, develop new business, lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and provide senior direction on complex projects. Responsibilities include assembling and managing teams, guiding technical approaches, preparing technical documents, and negotiating with regulators—all while delivering projects on time and on budget.
You will also partner with management to mentor environmental staff, conduct annual reviews, and establish professional development goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen client relationships to drive local and regional practice growth.
- Manage multi-faceted site assessment and remediation projects, including technical approach evaluation, document preparation, and regulatory negotiations.
- Scope services, develop budgets, and manage projects profitably.
- Hire, mentor, and develop staff members.
- Provide technical reviews of environmental deliverables and problem-solve in a professional setting.
- Serve as a recognized technical expert, demonstrating expertise through publishing or speaking on relevant topics.
- Facilitate relationships across offices, practices, and external organizations to address organizational and client challenges.
- Communicate effectively with staff, clients, contractors, and government regulatory officials.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in environmental engineering, site investigation/remediation, due diligence, or environmental compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP), Professional Engineering license (P.E.), Licensed Site Professional (LSP), or Professional Geologist (PG) certification (a plus).
- Established client/contacts in Real Estate, Mining, Power, Oil & Gas, and Manufacturing sectors.
- Experience in both client- and professional development-based organizations.
- Proven ability to manage projects profitably and develop proposals.
- Experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing staff.
- Strong technical review and problem-solving skills in a professional setting.
- Professional communication skills (written and verbal) for diverse audiences.
