General Responsibilities

  • Carry out field sampling and inspections for soil, groundwater, air, and building materials.
  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ASTM E1527-21) including historical records review, site reconnaissance, and prepare technical reports.
  • Perform Phase II environmental investigations, including soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling, under the guidance of project managers.
  • Carry out asbestos building inspections and bulk sampling in accordance with AHERA and state regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments using XRF analyzers and paint chip sampling techniques.
  • Execute indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring, collecting samples for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), mold spores, particulate matter, and other indoor contaminants.
  • Document field activities through field notes, photographs, and site sketches.
  • Communicate with clients and contractors during field activities.

Required Job Qualifications

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Industrial Hygiene or a related field.
  • One to three years of experience in environmental or industrial hygiene consulting.
  • Experience with environmental sampling techniques, including soil, groundwater, air, and building materials.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, such as EPA, OSHA, ADEQ, etc.
  • Strong technical writing and data organization skills.
  • Preferred certifications include AHERA Building Inspector, AHERA Contractor/Supervisor, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, or 40-hour HAZWOPER.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stoop, kneel, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
