About the role

This position supports a busy Environmental Consulting team of professionals. We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to assist with field work in environmental science, geology, GIS, ecology, biology, and hydrogeology.

In this role, you can expect to learn and grow while performing the following tasks:

  • Collect field samples of water, soil, or other media in accordance with standard industry practice or Moody standard operating procedures.
  • Document field conditions of media such as soil, groundwater, surface water, bedrock, air quality (gases), stream substrate, and biological media.
  • Assemble, operate, and maintain field instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare notes, sketches, and site maps.
  • Complete data entry and quality assurance/quality control tasks for large quantities of data produced from field activities.
  • Analyze data and assist in the preparation of report figures and graphs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or a related field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Self-motivated learner who enjoys daily field work and is eager to grow skills and learn scientific techniques.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Must complete HAZWOPER 40-hour certification. Moody will provide training if necessary, but the candidate is responsible for completing it by the time of hire.

Schedule

Average of 35–45 hours per week, with overtime as required. Weekly schedules may vary based on business demands and are typically confirmed during the workweek (Monday–Friday) during normal business hours. Very occasional weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) may be required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse environmental conditions, including rugged terrain, remote locations, and all weather conditions (e.g., hot and cold temperatures, inclement weather).
  • While performing office-related tasks or driving, the employee may be required to sit for long periods.
  • Field-related tasks may require hiking long distances while carrying equipment and supplies, with frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to carry out the physical effort necessary to perform job-related tasks.
