About the role

GHD is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Staff Scientist to join our dynamic team in Sacramento, Roseville, or Concord, CA. In this role, you will support environmental assessments, regulatory compliance, site investigations, and sustainable project development across diverse industries. This position is integral to our contamination assessment and remediation (CAR) business group, contributing to impactful projects involving environmental investigation, remediation, and risk assessment.

You’ll work alongside industry experts and mentors in a collaborative, mission-driven environment with access to ongoing training, leadership opportunities, and a clear path toward advancement. Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to environmental stewardship are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats.
  • Develop personal capabilities through training, coaching, and professional accreditation.
  • Follow health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies to mitigate risks and ensure well-being.
  • Manage relationships with small clients and assist senior colleagues with larger client accounts.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing and conduct testing in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Perform environmental impact assessments and deliver assigned tasks.
  • Interpret data to identify solutions, navigating processes and precedents.
  • Contribute to data and analytics reports.
  • Gather information and draft standard requests for bid solicitation, proposals, and tenders.
  • Participate in a community of practice to build expertise.
  • Coordinate the identification, assessment, and mitigation of environmental risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience post-graduation, including field sampling work.
  • Ability to travel overnight as required.

Schedule

This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office collaboration three days a week.

Pay

Salary range: $67,500–$116,000 based on experience and location.
