Environmental Scientist – Ecological Restoration

Project Officer – Ecological Restoration with a focus on environment and coastal resource management. This role blends fieldwork and office-based tasks to support ecological restoration projects.

About the role

This position offers a dynamic mix of on-ground environmental work and project planning, allowing you to engage directly with nature while contributing to conservation efforts. Ideal for someone passionate about the outdoors and ecological sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-ground ecological restoration works, including tree planting and weed removal
• Operate 4WD vehicles for fieldwork access
• Perform water monitoring and soil testing
• Plan and manage restoration projects, including budgeting and report writing
• Supervise teams and facilitate volunteer groups
• Liaise with various interest groups and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management (or equivalent)
• Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environment Resource Management and Coastal Resource Management double major)
• Currently enrolled in a Master of Environment (preferred but not required)

Skills

• Adaptability to changing field conditions and project requirements
• Strong planning and organizational skills for multi-faceted projects
• Experience supervising teams and working with volunteers
• Proficiency in report writing and budget management
• Fieldwork skills including 4WD operation, planting, and weed control
• Passion for environmental conservation and outdoor work
