Environmental Scientist
Final filing date: September 3, 2026. The Department of Water Resources' (DWR) Northern Region Office is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Scientist to join a collaborative team of professionals dedicated to protecting and managing California's water resources.
About the role
In this role, you will perform complex environmental research, field investigations, surveys, and technical analyses, with an emphasis on botanical surveys, that support critical water resource management and restoration projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team, gain diverse field and project experience, and contribute to projects that help protect California's water, native plants, sensitive vegetation communities, recreation resources, and the environment for future generations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct sensitive plant species surveys, aquatic resources delineations, and vegetation classification and mapping
- Prepare technical and environmental documentation
- Conduct recreation surveys
- Manage grant-funded projects
- Collaborate throughout the Northern Region with other DWR offices on a variety of environmental initiatives

Pay
Salary range: $4,418.00 – $9,321.00 per month.
