What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic advice on Massachusetts environmental regulations, including permitting, compliance, and enforcement
  • Guide clients through local and state land use and zoning processes
  • Assess and manage environmental risks in real estate and corporate transactions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to developers, energy clients, utilities, manufacturers, and other stakeholders on high-impact environmental matters

Must-Haves

  • JD and admission to the Massachusetts Bar (or willingness to become admitted)
  • 10 to 20+ years of legal experience, ideally from an AMLaw or comparable firm environment
  • Deep knowledge of Massachusetts land use, zoning, and environmental laws (e.g., Chapter 91, MEPA, Wetlands Protection Act)
  • Comfort operating independently with limited oversight in a lean team setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact directly with clients

Nice-to-Haves

  • Background handling RCRA, CERCLA, or enforcement actions
  • Experience negotiating real estate transactions or construction contracts
  • Familiarity with energy infrastructure permitting or brownfield redevelopment
