Quality Assurance$65k–$85k/yrFull-time

Position Summary

Titan Environmental Solutions is seeking a full-time Environmental Quality Assurance Specialist to review and quality-check environmental consulting reports. This role works closely with project managers, industrial hygienists, and environmental professionals to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, completeness, and professional presentation of all deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review environmental consulting reports for technical accuracy, consistency, completeness, grammar, formatting, and professional presentation before client release.
  • Identify inconsistencies, omissions, missing information, unclear language, formatting issues, and potential quality concerns within lengthy technical reports.
  • Cross-check field notes, sample IDs, laboratory analytical results, chains of custody, site photographs, figures, tables, exhibits, and appendices against report narratives, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Confirm reports align with company standards, client expectations, applicable regulatory considerations, internal QA/QC procedures, and project-specific requirements.
  • Review reports for appropriate use of regulatory, industrial hygiene, and environmental terminology, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, indoor air quality, hazardous materials, occupational exposure, and environmental site assessment language.
  • Ensure final reports include all required sections, exhibits, tables, appendices, limitations, certifications, laboratory documentation, photographs, and other client- or project-specific deliverables before issuance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, industrial hygienists, environmental professionals, and administrative staff to resolve edits, clarify report details, and address potential technical, regulatory, contractual, or client-service concerns prior to release.
  • Support project managers and technical staff by reducing administrative review burdens and improving the efficiency, quality, and consistency of client deliverables.
  • Identify recurring report deficiencies, process inefficiencies, training opportunities, and quality trends, and provide recommendations to improve report consistency, turnaround times, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve QA/QC checklists, report review logs, recurring error trackers, correction workflows, standardized templates, terminology guides, formatting standards, and quality-control procedures.
  • Aid in improving QA/QC workflows, report templates, AI-assisted review processes, prompts, verification steps, and human-in-loop review checklists to support responsible and effective technical report review.

Internal Leadership Expectations

  • Assist with developing QA/QC standards, review checklists, report templates, and best practices across service lines while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support development of quality standards and review workflows that improve operational consistency across environmental service lines.
  • Help identify training needs and process gaps that impact report quality, client deliverables, and project manager efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong technical writing, editing, proofreading, organizational, and quality assurance skills, with experience reviewing lengthy technical reports for inconsistencies, omissions, formatting issues, and overall deliverable quality.
  • Environmental consulting experience is strongly preferred. Prior experience reviewing asbestos, lead, mold, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, environmental compliance, engineering, or laboratory reports will receive strong consideration.
  • Familiarity with asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, indoor air quality, hazardous materials, occupational exposure monitoring, and Phase I/Phase II environmental site assessment reporting.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory analytical reports, sample result tables, detection limits, units of measure, and basic QA/QC documentation.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical professional who is process-driven, comfortable with technology, and able to identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve deliverables.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong written communication skills, including the ability to professionally challenge inconsistencies and take satisfaction in improving systems—not simply writing reports.
  • Working knowledge of technical report components, including site descriptions, sampling methodologies, findings, conclusions, recommendations, limitations, appendices, figures, photo logs, and laboratory attachments.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies between narrative text, tables, figures, laboratory data, photographs, appendices, and other supporting documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word advanced formatting and review tools, including tracked changes, comments, styles, tables, headers/footers, templates, and PDF review tools.
  • Detail-oriented work style with the ability to manage multiple documents, deadlines, priorities, and internal stakeholders while maintaining production timelines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project managers, technical professionals, and administrative teams to resolve report comments efficiently.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies is preferred as Titan continues implementing AI-assisted workflows and document review processes.
  • Certifications or training related to asbestos, lead, mold, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational safety, environmental compliance, or QA/QC are a plus.
  • PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND OR COURSEWORK IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, TECHNICAL WRITING, ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES, OR A RELATED TECHNICAL FIELD.
  • RELEVANT PRIOR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING, LABORATORIES, COMPLIANCE, QA/QC, TECHNICAL EDITING, DOCUMENT CONTROL, OR PROJECT MANAGEMENT.
