Environmental Project Coordinator (Engineer or Scientist)
Who are we looking for?
Our Environmental business in Baton Rouge, LA is looking for an Environmental Project Coordinator (Engineer or Scientist) to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
- Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace.
- Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Lead waste projects or supervise area of the organization, ensuring adherence to regulations and effective reduction, segregation, and disposal of waste.
- Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
- Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
- Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
- Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
- Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
- Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, reports, work plans, and project specifications.
- Coordinate and implement project permitting.
- Interpret/evaluate environmental regulations.
- Data compilation, reduction, and interpretation.
- Understanding of remediation, remediation methods, and operations and maintenance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field
- PE or PG professional designation is an asset
- 3-8 years of experience in environmental consulting including environmental permitting & compliance, remediation & design, site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation and environmental project coordination
- Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Electrical systems and remediation system operation and maintenance is an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel to undertake field work is required
