Environmental Planning Project Principal
About the role
HDR is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planning Project Principal to expand CEQA & NEPA services in the Southern California area. This position is responsible for collaborating and providing technical expertise across HDR’s business groups (Transportation, Resources, Water, BES, Architecture, and Federal). This individual will work with senior management across HDR’s business groups to develop new opportunities, manage and deliver projects, develop staff, and respond to client needs. This is a seller/doer position and requires an individual with a strong character of self-motivation, technical capability, and team leadership.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
- Responsible for any project assignment regardless of size, visibility, number of disciplines, technical complexity or number of staff
- Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
- Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
- Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
- Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
- Implement QA/QC procedures
- Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience
- 15 years related experience
- A minimum of 7 years project management experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
- Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Qualifications
- A license/certification
- PMP certification
- Familiar with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software preferred
- Familiar with Prolog software preferred
Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $154,000 – $220,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
