Environmental Permitting Specialist/Natural Resource Scientist
About the role
AECOM's Northeast Environmental Planning & Permitting Department has a career opportunity for a mid-level Environmental Permitting Specialist/Natural Resource Scientist in our New England Office Locations. The position is remote but will require time in offices or client sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work with Massachusetts Environmental Regulatory Programs including the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act Regulations (310 CMR 10:00), USACE S. 404/10 and 401 WQC programs.
- Prepare permit applications within these programs.
- Support Energy Projects (electric energy transmission, generation and renewables), state and private sector infrastructure improvement programs and federal projects.
- Contribute to the development of innovative, sustainable and resilient solutions through cutting-edge technology and a network of experts.
- Participate in award-winning training and development programs to expand technical expertise and leadership skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or related field +6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
- Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Proven ability to prepare permit applications within the Massachusetts Environmental Regulatory Programs.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to draft environmental permitting applications.
- GIS skills and strong computer skills.
Qualifications
- BA / BS in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or related field +6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.

Skills
- Understanding of Massachusetts Environmental Regulatory Programs including the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act Regulations (310 CMR 10:00), USACE S. 404/10 and 401 WQC programs.
- Working familiarity with MADEP Ch.91 Program and MEPA.
- Wetlands experience in Massachusetts.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to draft environmental permitting applications.
- GIS skills and strong computer skills.

Pay
The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $94,000 to $130,000 per year.
