Environmental & PCA Assistant Project Manager

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager will assist their assigned supervisor with execution of assigned tasks, production of on-time and high-quality individual work product, and positive coordination with other team members to produce work product. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the success of their assigned subpractice area and project as highest priority. The role involves performing assigned tasks in a manner that models the Company’s core values and inspires goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity among the team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and manage Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Property Condition Assessments (PCA), and commercial energy usage assessments, including field inspections and report writing.
• Perform additional work such as subsurface investigations (groundwater, soil gas, soil sampling), remediation, and writing technical reports.
• Ensure project deliverables, milestones, and budgets are met.
• Work closely with senior managers to coordinate activities, meet milestones, adhere to budgetary limits, and meet deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and submit final reports in accordance with regulations, guidance, policies, and internal quality control standards.
• Majority of work will be located within California, but travel throughout the country may be required.
• Support assigned supervisor in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the practice area, including proactive management of individual tasks and monitoring utilization performance.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure high-quality work product and monitor progress on assigned tasks.
• Support supervisor in tracking relevant data such as utilization performance, client deadlines, and timesheet accuracy.
• Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals.
• Support and collaborate with team members to foster a positive and empowered culture.
• Conduct self in alignment with defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
• Travel as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
• Support quality control of service delivery and maintain an excellent reputation for quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or 5 years of related work experience and no degree.
• Experience with Phase I ESAs and PCAs following ASTM guidelines.
• Experience with assessment, remediation, and compliance under California State Water Resources Control Board and Cal EPA regulatory programs (e.g., LUST, SRP).
• OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification.
• Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour).
• AHERA (Asbestos) certifications preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
• Ability and willingness for frequent travel for field work (valid driver’s license required).
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to walk job sites during inspections, including uneven terrain, climbing ladders, and carrying field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds).

Pay

• $68,000 - $183,000 USD annually (Geographical Tier AA – Sample Locations: NY Metro, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle).
• $62,000 - $169,000 USD annually (Geographical Tier A – Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria).
