Environmental Litigation Attorney

About the role

This is a permanent, full-time position for a passionate, dynamic, and experienced Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded boutique law firm with a top-tier environmental and energy practice in New York State. The role offers hands-on responsibility, meaningful motion practice, direct partner access, mentorship, and long-term growth in a respected niche practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in environmental litigation matters.
• Conduct thorough and efficient discovery to gather necessary evidence and information.
• Handle complex civil matters, including those related to environmental regulations and policies.
• Draft and argue motions in court, utilizing strong motion practice skills.
• Utilize knowledge of Article 78 proceedings to challenge decisions made by administrative agencies.
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure the best outcome for clients.
• Stay updated on current environmental laws and regulations, and advise clients accordingly.
• Develop strategies for handling litigation cases, and represent clients in court.
• Participate in settlement negotiations, and advocate for the best interests of clients.
• Conduct legal research and analysis, and prepare legal documents such as briefs and pleadings.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the NY state bar.
• Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in environmental litigation.
• Experience with Discovery, Memos of law, Affidavits, Article 78 proceedings, and motion practice.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle large amounts of information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Pay

$120,000 – $150,000 per year
