Responsibilities
- Work with community partners to support community outreach and education; administrative and logistical support, partnerships and collaboration, program implementation, and measuring the impact of programs through monitoring and reporting.
- Aid in eastern Pennsylvania on CWA’s national and state campaigns.
- Aid in voter education efforts on environmental issues, and through Clean Water Action, help elect pro-environment candidates.
- Aid in media and public relations activities in eastern Pennsylvania.
- Aid in lobbying and other communication with legislators and agency staff.
- Aid in local fundraising activities, including events and individual donor work.
- Provide support for CWA’s field and phone canvasses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, public health, urban planning, public policy, social justice, sustainability, community development, or a related field. Equivalent lived experience, community organizing, or grassroots leadership may be considered in place of formal education.
- 2-4 years in community-based program coordination, environmental advocacy, public health, and electoral campaigns. Proven experience in engaging communities, especially in lower-income and BIPOC neighborhoods.
- Experience working with grassroots organizations, community residents, or coalition partners.
- Demonstrated experience organizing community meetings, workshops, or outreach campaigns.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills, including managing timelines and program activities.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, particularly in diverse community settings.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with community members and partner organizations.
- Experience with data tracking, program evaluation, and reporting (especially for grant-funded programs).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to translate complex environmental or policy issues into accessible information for the public.
- Ability to work in a hybrid role, requiring reliable home internet access and the ability to commute to the Philadelphia office on at least a weekly basis and surrounding areas.
- A deep passion for environmental justice, public health, and community empowerment.
- Comfortable with using online communication tools, managing digital campaigns, and utilizing basic software for organizing tasks.

Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts in a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to attend the office at least once per week, with the remainder of work hours completed remotely. Occasional evenings.
