About the role

Provides corporate leadership and oversight for environmental compliance, industrial hygiene (IH), EHS management systems, and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) performance across all company manufacturing locations. Ensures regulatory compliance, program standardization, data integrity, and continuous improvement in environmental and employee health protection.

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee all environmental compliance programs across multiple manufacturing locations.

  • Serve as corporate technical lead for Title V air permitting, including emissions inventories, deviation tracking, compliance certifications, and regulatory correspondence.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable NESHAP and MACT standards related to fiberglass, composites, coatings, resins, and gel coat operations.

  • Manage environmental permits, registrations, and certifications (air, stormwater, NPDES, wastewater, hazardous waste).

  • Lead and support regulatory inspections and audits; act as primary interface with federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required environmental reports and submissions.

  • Oversee Large Quantity Generator (LQG) hazardous waste programs enterprise wide in accordance with RCRA, including waste determinations, container management, inspections, training, contingency planning, and Biennial Reports.

  • Manage SARA 311/312 (Tier II) and SARA 313 (TRI) reporting, ensuring accurate inventories, release calculations, and submittals.

  • Champion waste minimization and pollution prevention initiatives across facilities.

  • Develop, standardize, and deploy IH programs addressing chemical exposure (including styrene and solvents), fiberglass, particulates, and occupational noise.

  • Plan, conduct, or oversee exposure monitoring, noise surveys, and evaluation of control effectiveness.

  • Define and verify implementation of engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.

  • Ensure consistent execution of OSHA programs, including: Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Chemical Management.

  • Review new processes, materials, and equipment for environmental and IH impacts prior to deployment.

  • Lead development and implementation of the company’s ESG and sustainability strategy aligned with business objectives and external expectations.

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise GHG inventory (Scope 1 and Scope 2), supporting Scope 3 data where applicable.

  • Integrate air emissions, energy usage, fuel consumption, and process data into a consolidated GHG accounting framework.

  • Establish standardized methodologies, documentation, and quality controls to ensure data accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.

  • Identify and support energy efficiency, emissions reduction, waste reduction, and decarbonization initiatives.

  • Monitor evolving climate related disclosure requirements and assess organizational impacts.

  • Lead preparation and publication of the annual Sustainability / ESG Report.

  • Ensure alignment between regulatory reporting and externally disclosed sustainability data.

  • Develop ESG dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.

  • Support customer, investor, and stakeholder ESG data requests and surveys.

  • Own and maintain the corporate EHS Management System, integrating environmental, IH, and ESG requirements.

  • Establish standardized data governance processes for environmental, waste, energy, and emissions information.

  • Conduct routine multi site audits and risk assessments; track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Consolidate and present environmental, IH, and sustainability performance trends to executive leadership.

  • Develop and deploy standardized EHS, environmental, and sustainability training programs.

  • Provide functional leadership and technical guidance to site EHS professionals and coordinators.

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, HR, and Supply Chain to embed EHS and ESG into business processes.

  • Support emergency response preparedness, spill response, and contingency planning.

  • Provide oversight of contractor environmental and IH compliance.

  • Support investigation of occupational exposure related workers’ compensation claims.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing Title V air compliance in complex or multi-site manufacturing environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, TRI, Tier II, and applicable state regulations.

  • Experience with MACT/NESHAP standards related to composites, fiberglass, or coatings.

  • Proven experience managing LQG hazardous waste programs across multiple facilities.

  • Solid background in industrial hygiene principles, exposure assessment, and control strategies.

  • Experience preparing regulatory and sustainability reports and interfacing with regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to interpret OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations and applicable NFPA/ANSI standards.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently and influence across functions.

  • Availability to respond to emergency situations as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in the marine industry a plus.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and vendors.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Other Qualifications: Include Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other skills/abilities/qualifications not listed above.

  • 30 hour OSHA certification; HAZWOPER certified; certified First Responder; DOT Shipper; Hazardous Waste (RCRA) certification; CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
