Responsibilities

  • Provides cleaning services to patient and non-patient areas while adhering to all Standards of Behavior and exhibiting excellent customer service skills.
  • Communicates with patients, visitors, and customers using designated scripting and engagement techniques.
  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other areas as directed, using appropriate chemicals and procedures.
  • Cleans in-patient and non-patient rooms, including beds, furniture, light fixtures, ceiling vents, windows, blinds, restroom fixtures, IV poles, Murphy beds, floors, and carpets.
  • Replenishes supplies, removes bio-medical waste, trash, and soiled linen daily, and changes cubicle/window curtains as needed.
  • Operates equipment such as vacuum cleaners, moves cleaning carts, and climbs ladders as required.
  • Completes patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions using approved procedures, including Bed Management systems.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards.
  • Complies with all Orlando Health policies, procedures, and safety directives, including Standards of Precaution, SDS, and Hand Hygiene.
  • Performs patient room cleaning using the 7-Step cleaning method for Environmental Housekeeping duties.
  • Completes all mandatory training and attends in-services as required.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Maintains productivity and volume standards established for the assigned facility.
  • Stays current with hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Good working knowledge of department-related computer systems, including Bed Management systems.
  • Must be able to complete required mandatory educational training.
