Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor

About the Role

The EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Supervisor is responsible for the daily planning, implementation, and enforcement of safety programs within a facility and across multiple sites. The primary objective is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, such as those set forth by OSHA and the EPA, while fostering a strong safety culture and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs, including hazardous waste management, emergency response plans, and OSHA standards (CFR 1910 for general industry).
• Ensure compliance with ISO Standards 14001 & 45001 and proper HAZWASTE disposal following TCEQ procedures.
• Partner with departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
• Assist in investigating environmental incidents, such as spills or releases, and develop corrective actions.
• Review monthly audit results with EHS Coordinators and assist in developing corrective actions.
• Develop EHS initiatives to reduce and mitigate OSHA recordability.
• Ensure compliance with reporting processes on Intellect and post OSHA monthly metrics accurately and timely.
• Schedule and lead meetings to review accidents, near misses, and corrective measures.
• Conduct monthly site inspections to identify hazards and provide corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment inspections (e.g., forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts) per TAS EHS Program.
• Assist and participate in internal and external ISO Audits across all facilities.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, management, and contractors on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and equipment use.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment activities, such as Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and recommend risk mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations, maintain accurate records (e.g., OSHA logs), and prepare/submit reports to management and regulatory agencies (e.g., ISNetworld, AVETTA).
• Assist in the CSUSA monthly reporting process and respond to official letters from agencies like OSHA and TCEQ.
• Provide leadership and guidance to site EHS coordinators and collaborate with operational management, HR, and other departments to sustain a strong safety culture.
• Participate in EHS monthly safety committee meetings across all facilities.
• Ensure quarterly environmental audits are completed and assist with corrective actions.
• Maintain current emergency action plans and monitor the effectiveness of annual fire drills.
• Manage or assist with workers' compensation claims, ensure proper documentation, and follow up with occupational clinics on injured employees' status.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or at least 10 years of progressive experience in lieu of a degree.
• 10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, construction, or general industry environments.
• At least 5 years of experience conducting OSHA trainings for the General Industry.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and ISO 45001/14001 standards.
• Knowledge of Emergency Action Plans and fire protection systems.
• Interpretation of OSHA standards (CFR 1910 for general industry).
• Understanding of EPA, TCEQ, and OSHA reporting processes.
• Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30 (General Industry), OSHA 511, OSHA 501, OSHA 2455 (Safety and Health Management Program), OSHA 3095 (Electrical Standards), OSHA 521 (Guide to Industrial Hygiene), and OSHA 2264 (Permit-Required Confined Space).

• Excellent communication (verbal and written), leadership, problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical skills.

Work Environment

• Position is 80%–95% desk-based, working with a computer.
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and perform activities such as sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision for data analysis, computer operation, and extensive reading.
• Subject to inside environmental conditions.
