About the Role

Designs and implements safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Serves as the subject matter expert in environmental health and safety, overseeing programs, training, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement written EHS programs, recordkeeping systems, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations by interpreting requirements and adjusting programs, processes, and policies as needed.
  • Deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels to ensure understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct and document regular EHS audits and inspections to assure compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
  • Coordinate visits from internal and external regulatory authorities and file annual environmental reports (e.g., air, waste, water, Tier II, Form R).
  • Assist the site safety committee with inspections, identifying hazards and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Manage workers' compensation cases and EHS programs, including cost control, accident prevention, safety behavior audits, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance by evaluating programs and developing strategic plans.
  • Serve as the Radiation Safety Officer, ensuring compliance, training, and safe practices.
  • Analyze safety history, manufacturing processes, product machinery, and chemical exposures to identify hazards, trends, and safety strategies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS required in a related field.
  • Certifications required or preferred: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • 3-6 years' experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentations) for interacting with executive leadership, staff, and internal/external clients.
  • Proactive problem-solver with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-motivated, polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
