About the role
The Safety Coordinator supports the implementation and monitoring of the organization's safety programs. This role is responsible for conducting basic safety audits, providing safety training, and assisting in the development of safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conducts basic safety audits
- Provides safety training
- Aids in the development of safety policies and procedures
- Works closely with employees to ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Identifies and addresses potential hazards
- Assists manager and coordinators with larger projects and investigations
- Maintains and updates written EHS programs (minor revisions, annual reviews)
- Gathers data, pulls reports, and prepares documentation for audits and submissions
- Tracks corrective actions and follows up on open items
- Serves as a liaison between EHS team and other departments (HR, facilities, ops)
- Manages contractor safety onboarding and documentation
- Maintains recordkeeping systems (OSHA log, training records, inspection logs)
- Covers scheduling for drills, training sessions, and inspections
- Orders and tracks PPE inventory
- Performs daily, routine administrative and safety program elements
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (preferably in environmental health and safety)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards as applicable to manufacturing
