Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator (EH&S)
About the role
Under the supervision of Alfred University’s EH&S Assistant Director and detailed working-knowledge of the practices and principles of EH&S missions for all Alfred University Schools and Colleges. The EH&S Coordinator assures that Alfred University maintains compliance with all Local, State and Federal Environmental Safety regulations. Also, the EH&S Coordinator serves as primary representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies contractors, suppliers, and various nonprofit, educational, government, and community entities in relations to fire/environmental health and safety. The EH&S Coordinator leads various internal organizational teams that implement Alfred University’s EH&S policies and goals. This position/title is covered by the CSEA, Local 749 union contract. The successful candidate will be a member of the CSEA, Local 749 bargaining union.
Responsibilities
- Implements the strategy for Fire/ Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives. Proactively address EH&S related issues by creating or updating policies to address same
- Facilitate Fire and Safety planning and coordination with routine and scheduled inspections and evaluations of university facilities and grounds including residence halls, work areas, labs, classrooms, equipment, practices etc., to identify potential fire violations, hazardous practices or biological, chemical and radiological materials and the collection of samples of
