Responsibilities

  • Captures day-to-day implementation of site safety and industrial hygiene policies and procedures
  • Affirms compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Develops and conducts periodic safety audits / assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety policies & procedures. Documents assessment findings, assists production management in resolving discrepancies
  • Performs ergonomic evaluations and assists in implementation of process improvements
  • Affirms contractor compliance with safety and environmental policies
  • Participates with teams to design new and existing processes with hazard minimization and waste reduction as primary objective
  • Updates and maintains action items within Safety and Environmental Profession database
  • Develops and delivers safety training materials
  • Performs risk assessments and process evaluations to determine the need for engineering controls and/or administrative controls. Coordinates implementation of process controls as related to safety/environmental issues
  • Drives pollution prevention and sustainability programs
  • Develops and maintains plant safety committees and safety teams
  • Leads incident investigation team, evaluates risks and incidents, and identifies areas where costs and loss experience can be improved
  • Manages worker’s compensation claims and coordinates employee health activities
  • Performs waste audits and coordinates shipment of regulated waste
  • Maintains compliance with wastewater permits including coordinating wastewater sampling and data tracking
  • Tracks metrics, prepares and submits monthly reports. Prepares plant communications including weekly safety topics
  • Collects, prepares and transfers many types of chemicals and other hazardous materials
  • Reviews materials used by manufacturing operations and maintains Safety Data Sheet database
  • Conducts weekly safety inspections such as Hazardous Waste areas
  • Evaluates and implements Personal Protective Equipment
  • Performs Job Safety Analysis
  • Aids in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested
  • Develops and provides EHS related training programs on various EHS topics including Lab Safety, Respirator Program, PPE. Hearing Conservation, First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Chemical Hygiene, and Hazardous Communication
  • Maintains Sustainability Report and records
  • Facilitates and manages employee-based Safety Committee
  • Collaborates with management to further the objectives of health and safety programs
  • Coordinates annual EHS training matrix
  • Coordinates and develops training & drills for Emergency Evacuation requirements
  • Serves an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysis

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting
  • Familiar with EHS programs and regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • OSHA 10 hour course completion or within 60 days of employment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, including Injury record keeping
  • Computer literate on PC and related software
