About the role

The EHS Specialist supports routine operations, conducts inspections, and assists with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Implement safety and environmental training programs for facilities.
  • Aid the Environmental and Safety Managers with training evaluations.
  • Attend and participate in facility meetings to evaluate team performance.
  • Support and travel to 5-7 locations within the local geographic footprint.
  • Develop and implement monitoring programs for solid waste generation and water discharges.
  • Prepare and submit reports on findings and recommended actions.
  • Provide on-site stack test observation and support for air program compliance reporting.
  • Respond to or assist as an Emergency Coordinator for significant environmental or safety events.
  • Aid the Operations, Safety, and Environmental team with incident reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain compliance with FMCSA regulated Driver and Vehicle files.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate emergency drills.
  • Support other projects as directed.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback to plant management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Safety, Engineering, Environmental or relevant experience.
  • Math skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
  • Working knowledge of computers and ability to learn new EHS software systems.
  • Initiative to work independently.
  • Ability to travel between WIN facilities.
  • Interface with front line employees and site management.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical position.
  • Positive work environment behavior.
  • Physical demands: stand, sit, walk, handle tools, fine motor skills, reach, climb, walk on heights, stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, crawl, ascend and descend stairs, access confined spaces and pressure vessels.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, corrected or otherwise.
  • Operate a 1.5-inch fire hose operating at 125 psi line pressure.
  • Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16" manways.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
