Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
About the Role
As the EH&S Specialist, you will work closely with the department manager in the development and implementation of Environmental Health & Safety programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures. You will provide safety training and education, report and participate in plant incidents, employee injuries, and conduct safety inspections and audits. Additionally, you will develop and initiate employee engagement activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement, execute, and ensure compliance with the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure all required company and regulatory reporting requirements are submitted on time.
- Assist management personnel in the investigations of plant incidents and complaints regarding unsafe working conditions and practices. Help identify immediate solutions, root causes, and track corrective actions to completion.
- Implement continuous improvement plans to ensure success on Corporate Safety, Health, and Environmental audits or assessments.
- Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local Regulators).
- Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Lead/manage the environmental program with help from an environmental consultant and represent management during EHS meetings along with other plant personnel.
- Ensure plant atmosphere and hygiene compliance.
- Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
- Train employees on required EHS topics in accordance with regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a safety role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Only U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 22 CFR120) may be considered.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications that set you apart:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
- Experience working under the ISO-14001, 45001 standard.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
