Essential Functions

  • Works With The Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with all relevant local, federal, and state requirements.
  • Works with the Safety Coordinator to ensure relevant building & fire code compliance.
  • Affords assistance in the day-to-day implementation, review, and continuous improvement of the Safety Program using quality philosophies and best practices.
  • Performs safety inspections and audits of facilities and departments.
  • Maintains EH&S documentation within a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Revises and posts EH&S Standard Operating Procedures, Permits, OSHA Postings, and licenses.
  • Affords assistance in creation and update of SDS and process hazard assessments.
  • Affords assistance in tasks and projects of the EH&S team.
  • Affords assistance in maintenance and stock of safety equipment and supplies, such as first aid, automated external defibrillator (AED), special safety glasses, etc.
  • Affords assistance in the storage, sorting, and disposal of hazardous waste (e.g., bulk and lab-pack chemicals and waste oils), universal waste (e.g., used batteries and lamps), non-hazardous wastes (e.g., scintillation vial wastes), biohazard sharps.
  • Creates and updates EH&S training videos and courses.
  • Participates in Charm Sciences Quarterly Safety Meetings.
  • Collections and filing of EH&S records such as training and daily laboratory cleaning check-out forms.
  • Maintains Charm Sciences, Inc. equipment operation / procedure licenses.
  • Affords assistance in identifying, analyzing, and implementing actions to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Affords assistance in identifying, collecting, and analyzing monthly EH&S metrics.
  • Maintains current knowledge of EH&S methods and processes by participating in training webinars and educational programs offered by organizations such as OSHA and the National Safety Council.
  • Affords assistance in the immediate response to workplace incidents and supports investigations to identify and implement preventive measures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Associates degree in a science or technology field.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Moderate level of EH&S experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Prezi, PowerPoint, or similar presentation software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of video capturing and editing.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to traverse inside and outside of the building as well as drive to nearby locations.
  • Able to detect potentially danger.
