Job Summary
Maintain plant environmental, safety, health, and security systems to achieve an environmentally compliant, injury-free workplace.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee environmental compliance programs regarding air, water, waste, and other environmental requirements.
- Evaluate environmental test results and laboratory data for compliance with regulations and permits.
- Support troubleshooting activities on plant environmental systems and equipment.
- Administer and evaluate occupational safety, health, and security programs.
- Implement and maintain reporting and renewal requirements for applicable regulations and permits.
- Provide technical interpretation and compliance recommendations for various environmental and safety regulations.
- Maintain a high knowledge level of relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Manage environmental and safety records and manuals.
- Conduct and review safety, health, and security performance reviews.
- Assess notices from the Office of Homeland Security and communicate appropriate actions.
- Work with local safety and environmental authorities and facility project management teams.
- Conduct site audits/inspections/evaluations.
- Develop and provide training to facility employees on safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop and conduct contractor training programs.
- Monitor contractor environmental work to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain active certifications and licenses, such as DOT, OSHA, and EPA certifications.
Scope
Works under limited supervision in a team environment. Supervises operators and contractors as needed. Contacts all levels of employees, including senior management, and interacts frequently with external partners like vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with 3+ years of experience in environmental and/or safety in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
- Experience in power plant operation and maintenance.
- Ability to communicate technical information to plant personnel.
- Strong influence and motivation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff.
- On-call availability 24/7.
- Physical ability to conduct detailed facility audits/inspections.
- Availability for unscheduled overtime and travel as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of EH&S rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Environmental control experience.
- Capital project experience.
Pay Range
$101,760 - $167,880*
*Actual salaries vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance.
