About the role
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at Washington Mills is responsible for overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs within the plant. This role supports corporate initiatives and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Research and prioritize EHS standards and regulations
- Train employees on safety protocols and best practices
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to develop corrective and preventive actions
- Support environmental compliance programs including air, water, and hazardous waste management
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs and other relevant internal reporting documents
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance safety culture
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and their impact on site operations
- Assist the Human Resources Manager with Workers Compensation claims
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree and have 5-7 years of experience in EHS manufacturing
- Demonstrate competency in OSHA CFR 1910 regulations and interpretations
- Possess OSHA Outreach trainer certification for general industry (preferred)
- Show creativity in creating content and advancing safety objectives
- Lead by example in all areas of EHS and other business imperatives
- Have a strong aptitude for program creation and enforcement
