About the role
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will oversee environmental compliance, workplace safety, and construction/commissioning EHS management across Edged’s facility operations. Edged is a fast-growing provider of sustainable data centers and energy infrastructure, backed by a deep proprietary technology stack. The position requires a highly motivated and experienced EHS professional with a proven track record in supporting safe project execution and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, state environmental agencies, and local ordinances across all operational and construction activities.
- Develop and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and management plans related to waste management, water usage, air quality, hazardous materials, and stormwater management.
- Coordinate permit applications and approvals for construction, air quality, water discharge, hazardous materials handling, and waste management.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and compliance audits to ensure regulatory adherence and sustainability goal attainment.
- Oversee spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) planning and implementation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies for both operational facilities and active construction/commissioning sites.
- Organize and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and drills for employees and contractors.
- Maintain safety records, track metrics, and promote a culture of continuous safety improvement.
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to develop standard operating procedures that integrate safety requirements.
- Serve as primary EHS liaison for Operations between Construction and Commissioning projects.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Operations, and contractor teams to resolve EHS issues and ensure safe project delivery between Operations and Construction.
- Support EHS closeout verification for Operations and site demobilization activities.
- Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and construction safety events; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Maintain and manage comprehensive EHS records, including safety audits, inspection reports, environmental compliance documentation, and incident records.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents, accidents, and environmental concerns to internal leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
- Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders regarding safety and environmental matters.
- Lead the setup, configuration, and deployment of the HSI EHS platform across the area — onboarding techs and contractors, standardizing inspection and observation workflows, and driving adoption so field data is captured consistently and feeds program-level trend analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with operations and facilities teams to implement sustainability programs reducing environmental footprint.
- Identify and promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint reduction opportunities.
- Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in EHS, construction safety, and sustainability.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators; prepare reports and present findings to leadership.
Skills and Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications: Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST, or similar) highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 8-12 years in EHS management, with at least 3+ years supporting construction, commissioning, or capital projects in industrial/technical settings.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing EHS programs and policies.
- Prominent experience managing contractor safety and environmental compliance on multi-million dollar projects.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with construction safety standards, project-specific safety planning, and commissioning activities.
