About the role
The EHS Manager provides day-to-day EHS support to the facility locations and operating teams within the Northeastern United States markets (PA, NY, MD, DE, NJ, CT), with plans to expand into New England. This role includes conducting compliance reviews, offering guidance, maintaining and auditing safety SOPs, coaching and training employees, reviewing incidents, and supporting incident investigations.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily and continuous safety support to the Northeastern United States Markets
- Conduct compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments
- Offer daily guidance and direction in EHS programs
- Maintain, audit, and update AWP Safety SOPs for all safe work practices and equipment
- Coach, train, guide, and mentor regional employees
- Review and manage corrective actions for accidents/incidents
- Support incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
- Develop and present relevant EHS training
- Work with employees and leadership to achieve cultural change
- Travel to branch locations and job sites as required
- Visit and walk job sites regularly
- Conduct EHS meetings/training and perform field safety observations
- Evaluate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure its proper use and maintenance
- Perform critical behavior-based safety observations as needed
- Coordinate safety activities at the Business Unit, Region, and Branch levels
- Conduct EHS audits and assessments of ongoing operations
- Manage AWP Safety policies, programs, procedures, and systems for the assigned region
- Serve as the single point of contact for Regional and Branch leadership
- Ensure EHS policies, procedures, programs, and systems are trained and available to employees
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of work experience in the EHS field
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field with 3 years of EHS related experience, or HS Diploma with 5 years of EHS experience
- EHS certification a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications, software management systems, and EHS management systems and reporting platforms
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week, occasional weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to connect with field-level customers and contacts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with team members
- Adheres to and promotes safe workplace practices
- Valid drivers' license and ability to meet AWP Safety driver standards
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Time split between field and office environments
- Frequent local and overnight travel, including regular job site visits and hands-on collaboration with field teams
- Exposure to inclement weather, dust, and asphalt
- Noise levels can be loud
- Lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects up to 50 pounds
- Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions

- Compensation range: $90,000 - $110,000 Base + 10% AIP Bonus + Company Vehicle and Gas Card
