Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Helps maintain site safety programs in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Maintain and organize safety documentation (training records, inspections, permits).
- Conduct workplace safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses.
- Schedule safety training and track employee completions.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; perform root cause analysis.
- Maintain inspection logs and safety checklists.
- Prepare basic safety reports, logs, and dashboards for leadership.
- Track corrective actions and follow-up deadlines.
- Support safety meetings (agenda prep, minutes, attendance tracking).
- Order safety supplies (PPE, signage, binders, labels).
- Serve as point of contact for regulatory agencies and inspections.
Qualifications and Skills
- A high school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- One to two years of manufacturing or chemical industry safety experience.
- PREFERRED: DOT and Hazmat experience.
- Strong working knowledge of chemical hazards and regulatory reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).
