Environmental Field-Testing Technician

About the role

This entry-level Project Scientist I (Environmental Field-Testing Technician) position involves conducting air emissions testing for industrial clients. You will work outdoors or in industrial environments as part of a test crew, traveling weekly to customer sites within the state to perform testing projects, often requiring overnight hotel stays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site field testing and transport testing equipment to customer sites
• Prepare, deploy, stage, and break down testing equipment
• Perform sample collection and recovery
• Ensure professional representation of the company at customer sites and in the office
• Follow test methods, procedures, and processes for quality source testing
• Apply mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot testing systems
• Perform equipment preparation, quality assurance, and maintenance

Requirements

• Willingness to work outdoors in industrial environments (extreme heat, cold, wind, etc.)
• Ability to travel regionally on a weekly basis, including overnight stays
• Ability and willingness to work at elevated heights on stack platforms (50ft–300ft)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong aptitude for learning MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe products
• High degree of dexterity for handling tools and equipment

Physical Requirements

• Consistent standing or walking
• Consistent bending, crouching, or stooping
• Frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Climbing ladders and/or stairs
• Use of tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
• Ability to distinguish between shades of color

Preferred Background

Individuals with experience in environmental response/sample collection, mechanical, construction, or electrical work fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

Schedule

Monday–Friday with some travel (company vehicle provided). Most weekends off. Paid hotel accommodations during travel.

Pay

The pay range for this entry-level role is $28–$30 per hour, based on candidate experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
