Summary
Aids in the development, implementation, and management of plant-wide environmental programs focusing on waste, wastewater, and assigned multi-media compliance and reporting. Provides environmental guidance and supports plant personnel on various issues.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in continuous improvement and implementation of plant-wide environmental program to ensure compliance with various governmental and corporate environmental standards.
- Provide technical and regulatory guidance for operations, maintenance, process engineering, and capital projects.
- Initiate and participate in incident investigations and corrective actions for environmental-related events and incidents.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current and proposed federal and state environmental requirements.
- Perform periodic environmental audits at plant locations and verify compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate compliance programs with focus on waste management processes, supporting multi-media compliance initiatives.
- Serve as host for auditors/inspectors and support compliance inspections and investigations.
- Develop and execute strategies to resolve compliance issues arising from inspections and operations.
- Develop and maintain environmental procedures, guides, and plans.
- Prepare and conduct training modules on environmental requirements.
- Complete environmental program agency reports as assigned.
- Provide quality control via peer review of environmental reports and documents.
- Assist in environmental metric tracking, analysis, and reporting.
- Promote safety programs through participation in safety meetings and committees.
- Participate in on-call rotations for HSE.
Education, Experience, And Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of environmental compliance or related industry experience in a petrochemical plant setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card required.
Physical Demands
- Mainly performs in a control room or office setting.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Must respond to audible emergency alarms and evacuate when required.
Work Environment
- Noisy environment due to normal office settings.
- May require use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Exposure to outside elements and may involve use of stairs and elevators.
- Travel may be required, including air and auto travel.
