Environmental Construction Manager II

About the role

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience serving in a construction management role (office or field) for environmental remediation projects.
• Strong working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and OSHA regulations.
• Strong understanding of EM385-1-1.
• Excellent communication, organization, and team-building skills.
• Strong technical writing and project documentation experience.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment in a team-oriented setting to manage multiple activities with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working on large project sites with contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater subject to HAZWOPER regulations.
• Experience forecasting, scheduling, and staffing multiple concurrent projects.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically Excel, Word, and Project.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing The successful candidate will:

• Cook up a plan and schedule for the project.
• Travel to project sites (25-50%) during various work phases to kick-off work activities, train project personnel, and perform audits.
• Lead internal and external project meetings.
• Regularly interface with field personnel, project managers, technical staff, and clients to support all components of project work.
• Generate and review planning documents and subcontractor scopes of work.
• Generate and review project specifications and construction drawings.
• Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor personnel.
• Identify and mitigate project risks relating to quality control and health and safety.
• Manage HGL Construction Team members as a Supervisor.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

• Strong demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Experience implementing the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.
• Experience managing USACE and EPA remediation construction projects.
• Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS).
• Current certifications including: 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher; OSHA 30-hour Construction Training; USACE CQM-C; and first aid/CPR.

Prolonged sitting up to 70% of the time; Prolonged standing up to 70% of the time Walking long distances; Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain Repetitive hand motions (typing/tool use/etc.) Ability to see details at close range; Ability to see details at a distance; Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps/graphs/warning indicators/etc.) Driving a company or personal vehicle Analyzing and synthesizing data Complex problem solving and decision making Reading and interpreting technical documents or regulations Writing reports, proposals, or technical documentation Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities Communicating effectively with clients/team members/and stakeholders Managing competing deadlines and shifting priorities Work Environment Requirements Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/rain/snow/etc.) Must be able to travel up to 25% yearly May work in environments with loud noises/dust/or hazardous materials Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Details

Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends. Office Type: Project site, field work. Office work is minimal. Travel: 25-50%, mostly in the 25% range. A favorable pre-hire drug test and physical are required. All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification.

This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
