Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of Industrial Wastewater System, including operating/monitoring, sampling & recordkeeping, maintaining/troubleshooting, and compliance of systems and programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and processes to identify and correct potential environmental hazards.
  • Identify and evaluate potential health and environmental hazards and assess the effectiveness of control mechanisms.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety laws.
  • Play a role in emergency response planning and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Create, implement, and monitor Environmental Health policies and programs.
  • Develop and provide best practices to employees on topics such as emergency response and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports for regulatory compliance.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of Environmental Health work experience in a manufacturing facility is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field (such as Environmental Health) may help compensate for some experience.
  • Experience operating industrial wastewater pretreatment systems, including Knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, including pH adjustment, chemical precipitation, and oil separation.
  • Ability to conduct basic laboratory testing and interpret results.
  • Experience working with and reporting to Federal and State (OSHA, EPA/DEP, etc.) agencies, including a solid understanding of their associated regulations and standards.
  • Experience with Hazardous Waste Management, including permitting for Air, Stormwater, and Industrial Water Discharge.
  • Certifications in Environmental Health & Safety related programs preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including, but not limited to, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Exceptional reading comprehension and attention to detail to manage documentation and ensure compliance.
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to address unique environmental challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and accept challenges.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is highly preferred, but not required, to present information clearly and train our diverse workforce.
