Environmental Asbestos Technician
About the role
The Environmental Asbestos Technician I supports the Environmental department in various services including asbestos surveys, third-party monitoring, lead-based paint surveys, and more. This role involves performing field sampling, assisting in report preparation, and participating in QA/QC programs.
Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling of asbestos and other indoor air quality media as part of site assessments and remediation activities.
- Absorb and develop work scopes, prepare reports, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and assess proper response actions.
- Maintain training records, field instrumentation, and certifications (training updates provided).
- Participate in QA/QC programs and safety programs.
- Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving and on schedule.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct tests, providing assessments of data through reporting.
Requirements
- BS in Environmental Science or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Current or expired Asbestos Inspector License - State of Missouri or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Detail-oriented, team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Computer literate and proficient in using field/office equipment related to the discipline.
- Able to climb ladders, lift, move, push, and pull items weighing up to 30 pounds multiple times.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record, with 15% travel required.
- Able to work off shifts and overtime, and willing to work out of town occasionally.
Qualifications
- Experience in asbestos, lead-based paint, and/or mold inspections, sampling, assessment, etc.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant field/office equipment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
- Willingness to work off shifts and overtime, and occasional travel.
