About the Role

The Environmental Administrative Coordinator supervises financial and clerical activities of the Environmental Management Program within the Department of Natural Resources. This role administers accounting functions for multiple grants and contracts, ensures compliance with federal, state, and tribal audit requirements, and coordinates with environmental staff and the program manager on various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and updated financial accounting systems.
  • Supervise bookkeeping, accounting procedures, personnel actions, travel authorizations, leave requests, timekeeping, property inventory, and other administrative functions.
  • Develop and implement procedures for financial status reporting to agencies and ensure timely compliance for grants and contracts.
  • Work with environmental staff to develop budget and grant proposals for federal, state, and tribal funding.
  • Prepare grants, contracts, backup documents, budget cover memos, and committee actions for signatures.
  • Assist the Program Manager and staff in setting goals, projecting budgets, and developing strategies.
  • Process financial reports, committee actions, and other documents through the agency.
  • Abide by Yakama Nation rules and regulations.
  • Perform oversight of program accounts in D365, including maintaining cuff accounts and managing budgets per fiscal year.
  • Work closely with the finance department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration OR at least five years of professional experience as a Program Coordinator, Bookkeeper V, or in a related field.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and obtain a Tribal Driver Permit with a Defensive Driving Course certificate (updated every 2 years).

Skills

  • Knowledge of tribal administrative procedure forms for the Finance Department.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures.
  • Familiarity with D365 or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of tribal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to make budget plans and projections.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare, implement, and interpret the tribal financial system.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with tribal staff and the public.

Pay

Hourly Wage: $23.28

Additional Information

Yakama enrolled preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. This is a regular, full-time position.
