Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit import customs entries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
- Classify imported merchandise using HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes.
- Calculate applicable duties, taxes, and fees.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and applicable PGA requirements.
- Monitor shipment status and resolve customs clearance issues.
- Communicate with customers, carriers, government agencies, and internal departments regarding shipment documentation.
- Respond to Customs Requests for Information (CF-28), Notices of Action (CF-29), and other compliance inquiries when required.
- Maintain accurate shipment and customs records.
- Assist with post-entry corrections and documentation updates as needed.
- Stay current with CBP regulations and customs compliance changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Entry Writer or Customs Entry Specialist.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import procedures.
- Experience classifying products using HTS codes.
- Knowledge of customs entry software (CargoWise, Descartes, or similar brokerage systems preferred).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
