About the role

FleeTec Academy is a paid educational program that leads to a full-time position as a Trailer Technician. The program includes:

• 4 weeks of paid classroom training at our Academy Campus, with travel expenses, hotel accommodation, a meal stipend, and a paycheck covered by us.
• Free technical education on the fundamentals of trailer repair.
• Hands-on training paired with a Lead Technician in your market, leading to a full-time job as a Mobile Trailer Mechanic.
• A set of hand tools with a toolbox provided to start your career.
• Ongoing classroom study to develop your skills over a multi-year program.

As a Mobile Trailer Mechanic, you will be assigned a state-of-the-art vehicle to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at our customers' locations, ensuring their vehicles run efficiently without needing shop visits.

Responsibilities

• Complete 4 weeks of full-time, intensive classroom training at our Academy Campus.
• Undergo hands-on training with a Lead Technician in your market after the initial classroom phase.
• Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on trailers at customer locations.
• Participate in periodic classroom sessions to further develop your technical skills.
• Maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Requirements

• Desire to start a career as a Trailer Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
• Willingness and ability to study hard and dedicate 4 weeks away from home for training.
• Maturity and focus to treat the program as the start of your career, not a casual opportunity.
• Technical aptitude and passion for fixing vehicles.
• Ability to operate an iPad.
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening, DOT physical, drug test, and driving record check.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education is preferred but not required.

Pay

• $13.08/hour (or state minimum wage, whichever is greater) + $250/week stipend (taxed) during the initial 4-week training.
• $19/hour for the next 6 weeks of hands-on training.
• $19/hour + $250/week stipend (taxed) during the second 4-week classroom phase in Indianapolis.
• $21/hour upon graduation from the program.
• Hourly pay range: $13.70 - $20.53/hour, with variations based on location and candidate qualifications.
