About the role
Fleet Services by Cox Fleet, a national leader in mobile on-site fleet maintenance, offers a paid educational program called FleeTec Academy. This program leads to a full-time position as a Trailer Technician, providing free technical education, hands-on training, and a career path in trailer maintenance and repair.
As a Mobile Trailer Mechanic, you will perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at customers' locations using a state-of-the-art vehicle. This role is designed to keep customer fleets running efficiently without the need for emergency roadside repairs.
Program Details
- 4 weeks of paid classroom training at our Academy Campus, with all travel expenses, hotel accommodation, meal stipend, and paycheck covered.
- Further hands-on training paired with a Lead Technician in your market.
- Full-time job offer as a Mobile Trailer Mechanic upon completion of initial training.
- Ongoing classroom study to develop your skill set over a multi-year program.
- Free set of hand tools with toolbox provided.
Pay
- $13.08/hour (or state minimum wage, whichever is greater) + $250/week stipend (taxed) during initial training.
- $19/hour for the following 6 weeks of hands-on training.
- Second 4-week classroom phase at $19/hour + $250/week stipend (taxed).
- $21/hour upon graduation from the program.
Requirements
- Desire to start a career as a Trailer Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
- Willingness and ability to study hard and dedicate 4 weeks away from home for full-time training.
- Maturity and focus to treat the program as the start of a career, not a casual opportunity.
- Technical aptitude and passion for fixing vehicles.
- Ability to operate an iPad.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical (a current DOT medical card with more than 4 months validity may be submitted in lieu of a physical).
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education is preferred but not required.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing, background checks, and driving record checks.
