Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer
About the role
AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to be based in Tallahassee, FL. The successful candidate will support the highway design teams in South Florida by working with different disciplines to complete a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for FDOT and other clients.
- Assist with work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans.
- Utilizing CADD to create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
- Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Preferred: EI certification, Transportation related experience, ability to work independently and collaboratively, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, proficiency in Microstation, ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented while understanding the big picture, documents time and effort accurately, interest in transportation infrastructure design.

This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Tallahassee, FL. The selected candidate must be available to work in Tallahassee, FL on a scheduled basis.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $70000 to $80000 per year.
