Entry Level Planner

About the role

VHB’s South Portland, Maine office is looking for a talented Transportation Planner to join a dynamic team across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of transportation planning studies for a multitude of transportation projects
• Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities
• Support authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies and demographic analyses
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
• Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Assist in safety studies

Skills

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially experience with Word
• Attention to detail
• Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of related professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, civil engineering, or related field
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop software, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online a plus
• Experience in Shapefile (SHP) and File GeoDatabase (DBF) file formats a plus

Pay

The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Maine, is $64,000 to $66,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law.
